James asherParticipantHi, guys, My last three workout videos have been muted or completely taken down due to copyright, even though I used a “Trending Sound” right from the TikTok library. My older videos never had this problem. Why is my TikTok suddenly muting my content?

Sara denisParticipantThat sounds exactly like a Commercial Music Library (CML) issue. Quick question: Did you recently switch your account from Personal to Business or Creator?

James asherParticipantYes! I switched to a Business Account last month so I could use the analytics dashboard and link my workout program. does that change the music I can use?

albert kamalParticipantIt absolutely does. When you switch to a Business Account, you legally become a commercial entity. This changes the music you’re allowed to use for two major reasons:
1. Licensing: Business accounts are strictly limited to the Commercial Music Library (CML). This library contains music that has already been pre-cleared for promotional and commercial use. This CML is much smaller than the library available to personal users.
2. Copyright Risk: The music you hear trending (often big pop songs) is typically only licensed for personal, non-commercial use (i.e., people dancing, lip-syncing, or sharing a moment). If a business uses it to promote a product, service, or brand (like your fitness program), the copyright holder can issue a takedown.
Key Distinction: Personal accounts is from blanket licenses for non-commercial use. Business accounts must only use music explicitly cleared for advertising and promotion.December 9, 2025 at 12:49 pm #100000577
James asherParticipantOhhh, that explains everything! I thought the “Trending Sound” tab was for everyone. So, all those hit songs that show up in the main sound search aren’t available to me anymore. What should I do now?

Sara denisParticipantIf you don’t need the specific business features (like the specific demographic analytics or the direct shop link), the easiest fix is to switch your account back to Personal/Creator. You’ll regain access to the full, massive sound library, and your muting issues will likely disappear instantly.

albert kamalParticipantIf you must stay on a Business Account, your only workaround is to use music from the CML, use original audio (like a voiceover or a sound you created), or find and purchase royalty-free music from an external library, and upload it as an “original sound.” But for simplicity, switching back is the fastest solution.

James asherParticipantGot it. My workout program link is not worth the hassle and muted videos. I’ll change back to a Personal Account. Thank you so much
