Liam DesiParticipantHey guys, need a quick gut check. Just got a DM from a mid-sized skincare brand. They’re offering $900 for a 30-second TikTok, but the contract says “Perpetual Usage Rights.” $900 is the most I’ve been offered yet, so I’m tempted… is this a “run away” situation or am I overthinking?

Sara denisParticipant🚩 BIG RED FLAG. Do not sign that, Liam. “Perpetual” literally means they own your face for the rest of eternity. They could be using that video to sell moisturizer when you’re 50, or worse, sell the footage to a different company you hate.
Standard usage is usually 3–6 months. If they want forever, they need to pay a massive premium—usually 3x to 5x your base rate.January 22, 2026 at 3:40 pm #100000748
Liam DesiParticipantOh wow, I didn’t even think about them selling the footage to others. 💀 How do I even push back without sounding like a diva and losing the deal?

Sara denisParticipantJust be professional about it. Use this:
“Thanks for the offer! I’m excited about the collab, but perpetual usage falls outside my standard terms. I can do 3 months of usage for the $900, or if you definitely need perpetual, the rate would be $3,500.”
