I’m seriously starting to feel stuck. My “classic” travel vlogs just aren’t performing. Unless I’m doing a luxury hotel review or hiking an insane mountain, the views are terrible. I feel like the travel niche is oversaturated, and I’m considering switching to lifestyle content entirely. Should I make the jump?

You’ve built a reputation and an initial audience around travel?. Don’t delete your niche; redefine it. Switching entirely is the fastest way to confuse the algorithm and the followers you do have. You need Niche Evolution, not annihilation
    • Solve a Problem: Instead of generic vlogs, focus on Travel Hacks and Efficiency. (e.g., “How to Pack for 3 Weeks in a Carry-On.”)
    • Target a Subgroup: You mentioned luxury is working—what about the antithesis? Focus intensely on Budget Travel or “Free Things to Do” in major cities.
    • Personalize the Journey: Add an adjacent topic, like Female Solo Travel Safety Tips or Digital Nomad Life while traveling.

It’s rarely the niche that’s the issue; it’s your positioning within it. Ask yourself: What is my USP (Unique Selling Proposition)? You need a Niche Stack. You’re not just “Travel,” you should be “Budget Travel + Sustainable Living” or “Travel + Remote Work Tech.” Find an adjacent interest that adds value.

“Budget Travel” feels really good to me. I’ve always been good at finding cheap flights and deals. But I worry that it won’t be “exciting” enough for short-form video.

That’s where the framework comes in. Before you commit, test it. Use this 3-Part Viability Check on your new “Budget Travel” angle:
    Check Question Action
    1. Search Demand >>> Are people actively searching for this? >>>> Check Google Trends for “cheap flights” or “budget itinerary [city name].”
    2. Your Passion >>>> Can you easily create 50 unique videos on this topic without getting bored? >>>> Draft 10 video titles right now. If it’s easy, you have passion.
    3. Monetization >>>> Are there brands in this space? >>> Yes! Backpacks, cheap airlines, budgeting apps, travel insurance.

    It passes all three.
“Budget Travel” is a massive, high-search-intent, high-monetization sub-niche.1 You just need to pivot your focus for the next 10 videos. Niche Evolution is always safer than niche switching.
